Australian Lowlines are bred for better beef

Australian Lowlines have superior carcass characteristics compared with other cattle, producing well over 70% dressed out beef. Combine this with their efficient feed conversion and expect to produce up to 40% more retail product per hectare and 30% more rib-eye than other cattle. It all adds up to increased profitability.

The (US) chart below gives the statistics in acres rather than hectares and lbs rather than kilos, but you'll get the idea. NZ stocking rates per acre are, of course, higher than these (Australian) ones. Expect to run a minimum of three Lowlines where you would run two Angus, Herefords or Whitefaces. Or even more.

MANAGEABLE SIZE/ FAST MATURING
Australian Lowlines, which have 100% Angus genes on a more compact frame, are designed to be smaller and to mature earlier than beef cattle of other breeds.

HOW'S THIS FOR PERFORMANCE?
Purebred Australian Lowline steer Allambie Apocalypse didn't get a look-in at the "on hoof"classes at the Quirindi Prime Stock Expo. Then came the carcass judging. Allambie Apocalypse's 87.567 score on the ABCAS evaluation system was good enough to have won the light weight section at the Sydney Royal Show. At Quirindi, he beat all light weights and was 3rd overall when the heavy weights were included.
