Emma trains a Lowline

By Emma Epstein, aged 11, of Waimauku, New Zealand

Hi, I'm Emma. While I was spending time with my mum at Casablanca, Judy introduced me to her Australian Lowline cattle. Sahara (who is a yearling) was my favourite and I was very excited when Judy asked if I'd lead her at the Kumeu Show. Sahara has a great personality and is easy to lead. She absolutely loves the pears from the trees in the orchard and is quite greedy. After three months of practice, I helped prepare the cattle for the show. I was really nervous and excited because I had never led anything at a show before. The show was excellent and Sahara got Reserve Champion!!! I took the ribbons to school to show the kids in my class. I was very proud of all the ribbons. I look forward to doing it again next year when Sahara will have a calf.
